About Richmond Seventh-day Adventist Church

Richmond Seventh-Day Adventist church is a community of believers that believe in coming together to worship our Creator, loving each other, and setting aside time each week to rest in the assurance of God’s love.

We believe in letting biblical principles determine how we do church and how we live our lives. We desire to seek God through:

  • Prayer: The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. Psalm 145:18
  • Scripture: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
  • Obedience: Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us
  • Fellowship: “that they may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent me

Our Beliefs

We believe that God loves you, and that we are stronger when we work together!

Prairie is part of the sisterhood of churches in the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church, a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 22 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming again soon.

Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.

28 Fundamental Beliefs

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.

Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
